“As Is” was a site-specific exhibition inspired by Thrift Town, the second-hand store in the same building as Mission 17.  McInnis borrowed ‘great finds’ from local artists and other Mission residents, and interviewed them about their discoveries.  She also interviewed people who worked at the store, and shot video capturing its eclectic textures and patterns.  The result was a show that presented the thrift store as a social place, full of surprising meaning, with its own logic and organizational structures.
